Rules & Regulations
Dear Members,
The Shanghai Racquet Club (SRC) Rules & Regulations are intended to enhance the mutual enjoyment of the Club for Members, their families and guests. Members are asked to observe the spirit and intent of these Club Rules at all times and to insure that family members and guests follow the same rules as well.
SRC Rules & Regulations are subject to change from time to time at the sole discretion of the Club Executive Committee.
General
A. Conduct of Members All Members shall behave in a considerate manner towards other Members and Club staff. Any misconduct of a Member shall be deemed to be a serious breach of the Club Rules and may be cause for termination of Membership. B. Suggestions and Comments Members may put forward suggestions and comments through one of the feedback cards available in the various outlets or via the Club website or by writing to the General Manager. C. Club Staff No Member or guest shall reprimand or in any way punish employees directly. Use of abusive language to any Club employee will not be tolerated. Members are strictly forbidden to offer any gratuity to Club staff. They can show their appreciation of the services of the staff, should they desire to do so, by contributing to the annual staff donation fund. D. Security & Safety Tips No members, member's child or guests should at any time take any actions that endanger the safety and/on health of other members, guests and SRC staff. No toys that endanger the safety of others (such as BB guns etc.) are allowed on SRCA premises. E. Personal Servants Personal servants, including nannies, ayis and chauffeurs are generally not permitted on Club premises. Ayis and nannies may watch children in the Children's Centre and at other play areas. F. Children The safety, welfare and behavior of children in the Club are entirely (and at all times) the responsibility of their parents or designated adult Member. The activities of children under 8 years of age must always be supervised at the Club by a parent or designated adult Member. Children are not permitted to make undue noise or actions that may be disturbing to adult Members or their guests. G. Smoking Smoking is NOT permitted anywhere inside the Clubhouse except in the Racquets Bar inner area, the outside verandas and terraces. The use of any kind of drugs is strictly prohibited within Club premises. H. Alcohol Moderate Alcohol consumption is only permitted for persons aged 18 and above. I. Food and Beverage Members are not permitted to bring food and beverages into the Clubhouse and the terraces. Only food and beverages purchased from the Club may be consumed in the Club premises. J. Library The Club purchases subscriptions for the reading pleasure of all Members. Periodicals are not to be removed from the library. Members are welcome to take our books home to read at leisure and are required to return and/or donate books into the drop slot provided for proper shelving. K. Nursing Mothers shall nurse babies and/or change diapers only in the designated area at the Ladies Locker Room. L. Pets/Animals No pets/animals shall be brought into the Club premises at any time. M. Car Parking Cars, motorcycles and cycles must be parked within the designated parking areas at the Clubhouse, save where alternative arrangements have been made by the Club Management. Washing of cars is not permitted in the car parks. Chauffeurs are not allowed into the Clubhouse. N. Liability of the Club Neither the Owner, the Manager nor any Member of any Committee or staff shall be liable in any manner whatsoever for (any Member or to any other person) any personal injury, damage, loss or theft of property occurring in or about SRC premises. All Members, for themselves and on behalf of their families and guests, shall be deemed to have waived any and all claims, past, present and future, against Shanghai Racquet Club & Apartments for any such damage, loss or theft by acceptance of the Membership granted to them by Shanghai Racquet Club. O. Club Property Members are required to respect Club property and the Club's environment including Club towels, robes and locker room supplies may not be removed from the Club premises. Members are responsible for paying for any damage caused by family members or guests to any Club property. P. Restricted Areas No person other than designated staff is permitted in kitchens and other 'Staff Only' rooms or areas of the Club. Children under 18 will not be admitted at the Racquets Bar. Q. Overdue Account Overdue accounts will incur a fine of RMB250 per month. The fine will be posted to the account on the day after the stated "Due-by-Date" on the month statement. Overdue accounts of 30 days or more may cause the credit facility to be temporarily suspended or eventually terminate of the club membership. R. Gambling Gambling of any description is not permitted on Club premises. S. Skateboarding Members and/or their guests shall not ride, or otherwise operate a skateboard on Club premises. Skateboarding is prohibited on sidewalks, verandas, parking lots, walkways, roads, and any other paved surface on Club premises other than at the specifically designated skateboarding area. Skateboarding at this area is at the members own risk. T. Shuttle Bus Use of the shuttle bus is limited to members, their guests and servants. Members must present their membership card upon request. Guests may use the shuttle bus when accompanied by members. Servants may use the shuttle bus presenting a shuttle bus permit that can be purchased from the SRC Security Department (Staff shuttle bus may be used by presenting a staff shuttle bus permit that can be purchased from the SRC HR Department). Guests and servants can only use the bus if seats are not occupied by members. Please contact Service Center for timetables. U. Lost and Found The Club is not liable for any lost items. For assistance, please contact the Service Center. V. ATM ATM is available in the Lobby and operated by a local bank. The Club is not responsible for ATM operations.
Membership Eligibility
A. Resident Membership of the Shanghai Racquet Club is available to all Residents of the Shanghai Racquet Club and Apartments (SRCA) and Residents of the Forest Manor International Club (FMIC). B. Individual Short Term and Lifetime Memberships are available to all individuals aged 21 and over that are of good character and financial standing. SRC Memberships are listed in the name of the individual and entitle the individual, his or her spouse and single children under age 25 use of the Club's facilities and services consistent with the Terms and Conditions as stated at the Membership Application Form.
Membership
A. Member and Corporate Nominee (if applicable) agree to abide by the Rules and Regulations of the Club as well as the Terms and Conditions of the Membership Application Form, as they may be amended from time to time. B. Club Membership Registration Fees/Monthly Dues may be reasonably changed at any time with notice and at the sole discretion of Club Management. All paid Club Membership Registration Fess/Monthly Dues are non-refundable. C. Club Members must follow the Club's Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and Policies and is required to insure family members and guests to likewise. Club's Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and Policies may be amended, modified or eliminated at any time at the sole discretion of the Club. Failure of the member, his or her family or guests to follow all Club Bylaws, Rules and Regulation, and Policies may result in the suspension of the Club Use Privileges or the cancellation of the Club Membership.
Membership Cards
A. A Picture Identification Membership Card is issued to all family members ages eight and older. Membership cards are not transferable and must be returned to the Club on termination of Membership, or RMB200 will be charged. B. Members are required to present their Membership cards at the Main Gate every time they visit the Club. Members who are unable to present their Membership cards (or any other proof of Membership) may be refused entry into the compound. C. Each family member is requested to carry their Membership Card at all times when at the Club and present it on request. D. Presentation of the Membership Card is required to register to use any of the Club facilities. E. Presentation of the Membership Card is required for all purchases of Club services, including food and beverages, pro shop merchandise and activity fees. F. Report the loss or damage of any type of the Membership Card immediately to the Membership Department. A fee of RMB200 will be charged for a replacement card.
Guests
A. Members are responsible at all times for the behavior and acts of their guests while on Club premises. B. Members are required to inform their guests of the Club's dress code policy prior to the guests' arrival to the Club. C. Members are responsible to insure that their guests follow all the Club Rules & SRCA regulations. D. Guest(s) must be accompanied by member(s) while using Sports & Recreation facilities at the club. E. Member's guest/s may attend the Club not more that 4 times per calendar year. Member's guest/s will be restricted to 4 (four) visitations to the Clubhouse and surrounding facilities, i.e. swimming pool, tennis courts, sports field etc., per annum. The names and contact details of all guests must be entered in the ¡®Visitors Book¡¯ at the Sports Desk before club facility usage is granted. F. This restriction excludes Member's guest/s attending events that are publicized as "open/invitational". The spirit and intent of this rule is to maintain the exclusivity of the Club while allowing all members to entertain guest/s without disadvantaging fellow members. G. Members with a party of guests over 6 (six) persons should make a reservation in advance with the Events Department to ensure availability and proper arrangements. H. Guests of Residents and/or Members who are under 18 years of age are to be registered at the Security Gatehouse by the host when entering SRCA or in advance through the Service Center. I. Guests will not be permitted to enter into ¡°Members Only¡± areas or be a part of ¡°Members Only¡± Events designated by the Club Management.
Reciprocal Club & IAC Visitors
A. All the reciprocal club visitors must follow the Club's Bylaws. B. Upon arrival at SRC, the reciprocal visitors have to present Introductory Letter & reciprocal membership card to the Club Reception. C. IAC visitors have to present IAC card to Club Reception, the same IAC member may only use the Club a maximum of 12 times (days) in a one year period.
Dress With Respect To Other Members
A. Appropriate attire is required throughout all areas of the Clubhouse and grounds. Club Management reserves the right to determine the appropriateness of Members' attire. B. Informal or casual dress, clean and in good repair, is approved at all times within the Clubhouse. C. Cutoffs, extremely abbreviated attire and clothing that is worn or otherwise in disrepair is not appropriate. Footwear must be worn at all times in the public areas of the Clubhouse. D. Clothing specifically designed for tennis and fitness is approved for the tennis and squash courts and fitness centre. E. Proper athletic footwear with non-marking soles is required on the tennis courts, squash courts and in the fitness centre. F. Shirts must be worn at all times in the clubhouse and women should wear cover-ups over bathing suits inside the Clubhouse.
Locker Rooms
A. Members and registered guests may obtain a complementary 'day use' locker key at the Sports Desk by presenting their membership card. Items may not be left overnight in a day use locker and the key must be signed out and returned at the end of the day at the Sports Desk. A fee of RMB200 will be charged for keys not returned to the Sports Desk prior the published closing time of the Clubhouse. B. Members desiring permanent lockers may rent one for a minimum of six months at a time at the prevailing rental rate. C. Eating and smoking are not permitted in the Locker Rooms. D. Gym/racquet bags should not be left in the Locker Rooms overnight. E. The Club is not responsible for the loss or theft of any items stored in lockers or left anywhere in the Locker Room or other Club premises. F. Children under age 12 are not permitted to use the Locker Rooms except when sharing a locker with a parent.
Tennis & Squash Courts
A. All Members must present their Membership card and register with the Sports Desk prior to play. B. Court time may be reserved up to three (3) days in advance directly at the Sports Desk or by telephone. Cancellations should be made at least 2 hours prior to play. Failure to cancel a court (if not required) may result in suspension of booking privileges or a cancellation charge. C. Names must be submitted for all Members and guest players. Members may only reserve one (1) court. All players must check in at the Sports Desk at least ten (10) minutes prior to their reserved time. Court reservations will be held not longer than ten (10) minutes after the start of the reserved time. D. One (1) court may be reserved for one (1) hour or two (2) hours by a member and the other player(s) on a weekday, and one (1) court may be reserved for one (1) hour on a weekend day by a member and the other player(s). E. Specific court requests will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. F. Club programs, lessons and events shall have priority over the daily routine schedule. G. One person may occupy a court for practicing only if there is not a demand by two (2) or more to play. However, ball machine usage on the tennis courts must be with two (2) or more players between 9:00am and 6:00pm on weekend days. H. No food or liquids of any kind are permitted on the courts. However, users are permitted to have water and energy drinks for their consumption at courtside. I. Tennis and Squash Court Utilization Rules on display at the Sports Desk and near the court vicinities further govern Tennis and Squash Courts use. J. Tennis and Squash courts may be closed without notice for special events. K. Only SRC Club Tennis Professionals are permitted to conduct any instruction, programs or events at the Club, unless pre-arranged for 'special programs and events' by Club Tennis Department. Any third party instructors will be asked to leave the Club Premises immediately. L. Members are required to observe guidelines (on display in the Clubhouse) on appropriate warm-up and cool- down preparations for all physical activities.
Swimming Pools
A. Members and guest/s must present their membership card and register prior to using swimming pools. B. When no lifeguard is on duty, members and guests swim at their own risk. C. Parents must supervise their children, under age 12, at all times unless the Club has certified the same children as competent swimmers. D. Thunder and/or lightning are cause for immediate evacuation of the pool. Members should follow instructions of club staff. E. Members and guests with injuries that are protected with large bandages (or open wounds) are not permitted to bathe in any pool. F. Jumping and surface diving is only allowed in the deep end of the pool. G. No running on the pool deck. H. Everyone must shower before entering pool or spa areas. I. Towels must not be removed from pool and spa areas. J. Only unbreakable glassware and food containers are permitted in the pool and spa areas. K. Smoking is only permitted in designated areas of the outdoor swimming pool. L. Excessive noise (including loud music) and dangerous behavior are not permitted in the pool and spa areas. M. Flotation devices and toys that may block the vision of the lifeguards may not be allowed during high usage times. N. All children who are not toilet trained must wear waterproof pants over diapers. Please only change diapers in designated areas and not on any pool deck area. O. Lap swimmers should limit their swimming to 30 minutes if other lap swimmers are waiting. P. The swimming pools may be closed without notice for special events. Q. In the event that pools, indoor or outdoor, become too crowded, the club reserves the right to operate without further admission. R. Only Club Aquatic Professionals are permitted to conduct any instruction, programs or events at the Club, unless pre-arranged for "special programs and events¡± by the Club Aquatic Center. Any third party instructors will be asked to leave the Club Premises immediately. S. Outdoor Pool and Pool Bar are Members-Only on weekends. Guests, personal servants of any kind will not be permitted to enter. T. No SRC outside member is allowed to use the residential pool or play at the lake in the residential area. For SRC Resident Member, please refer to Resident Covenants, Conditions & Restrictions.
Fitness Centre
A. Members must present their membership card to register prior to using the Fitness Centre. B. Proper sports attire in good repair including athletic shoes must be worn. Shirts are required at all times. C. Members should request proper instruction from the Fitness Centre attendant before using unfamiliar equipment. D. Food is not permitted in the Fitness Centre. However, users are permitted to take water and energy drinks into the Fitness Centre for their consumption. E. Children under age 12 are not permitted in the Fitness Centre except if enrolled in special programs. F. Users are responsible for their own safety when using the Fitness Centre equipment. G. Use of treadmills, stair steppers, stationary bikes and rowing machines should be limited to 30-minute sessions when other Members are waiting. H. Paid or unpaid coaching activities or instructions, other than those offered by the Club, are not allowed on Club premises without the permission of the Management. Third Party Instructor will be asked to leave the Club Premises immediately. I. Users with known medical or health conditions that may, through the use of the Fitness Centre facilities, be harmful to the health of other Members or themselves are not allowed to use the Fitness Centre. J. Users who are uncertain of their medical conditions should check with their doctors prior to using the Fitness Centre or commencing any training regime.
Soccer Field
A. Soccer Field is intended to be used by Members of SRCA only. Guests accompanied by members are requested to sign in the Guest Form at the Sports Desk prior to their usage. Please always check with the Sports Desk and the Schedule before using the pitch. B. Club programs always take precedence of Events or Individual Bookings or Public Open Time. C. Details of Individual Booking and Events Booking for exclusive usage of this area are available at the Sports Desk. D. All members will get FREE access to the pitch at Public Open Time marked in the schedule. E. Members using this pitch are at their own risk. F. Members are requested to keep this area clean and tidy. No littering of any kind is allowed, access the garbage bin nearby. G. Children under 10 years old are requested to be accompanied by an adult. H. Do not take any food or drink onto the surface of the pitch. (Excluding special events functions.) I. Smoking or any lit fire is strictly banned. J. No glassware of any kind on the surface. (Excluding special events functions.) K. No metal-spikes boots allowed.
Children Centre
A. The Children's Centre is designated for the use by Members' children and guests aged 10 and under. B. All the children must obey the rules & regulations when using the center. C. The Club does not provide babysitting services or childcare unless special arrangements are made for this service. D. Children under age 4 must be supervised at all times by an adult. E. The Club reserves the right to revoke the Children Centre privileges of any child acting in a dangerous or otherwise unsatisfactory manner. F. Members are responsible for paying for damages caused by their children. G. Special Children programs will have priority over the normal operations of the Children Centre. H. Members and children are required to take off their shoes before entering the center. I. Parents require writing their contact number, sign-in upon arrival and sign-out upon departure. J. Children Centre Rules on display at the Centre further govern Children Centre Use. K. Wonderful World of Learning (WWL) and SRC will not be responsible for accidents occurred within the premise.
Club Bedrooms
A. Club rooms are available for use by Members of SRCA and members of reciprocal clubs. B. SRCA Members may reserve a bedroom for use by their guests. C. The second floor of the clubhouse is restricted to Residents, Members and their invited guests staying at a Club room. D. Use of the club rooms is under the condition that: a) All charges for accommodation and other expenses incurred during stay at the Club must be paid in full by membership charge; cash or approved credit card on the time of departure. b) Rooms cannot be booked for a period greater than 14 days. c) Registration of guests must be in accordance to laws of the People's Republic of China. d) Guests are not permitted in club rooms after 11:00pm. e) The Shanghai Racquet Club will not be held responsible for loss of any valuables and or personal property. f) Check in time: After 14:00pm. & Check out time: Before 12:00noon.
