Rules & Regulations
General
A. Conduct of Members All members shall behave in an appropriate manner towards other members and Club staff. Any misconduct of a member will be considered as a serious breach of the Club rules and may result in termination of membership. B. Suggestions and Comments Members may put forward suggestions and comments using one of the feedback cards available in the various outlets via the Club website or by writing to the General Manager. C. Club Staff No member or guest shall reprimand or, in any way, punish employees. Use of abusive language in front of any Club employee will not be tolerated. Club staff is strictly forbidden to accept any gratuity from members. Members are welcome to show their appreciation of services received by contributing to the annual staff donation fund should they desire to do so,. D. Personal Servants Personal servants, including nannies, ayis and chauffeurs are generally not permitted on Club premises. Ayis and nannies may watch children in the children's center and other play areas. E. Children The safety, well being and behavior of children in the Club are entirely (and at all times) the responsibility of their parents or designated adult member. The activities on the premises of children under 8 years old must always be supervised by a parent or designated adult member. Children are not permitted to make undue noise or take actions that may disturb adult members or their guests. F. Smoking Smoking is NOT permitted anywhere inside the Club house except on the outside verandas and terraces. G. Drugs and Alcohol Moderate alcohol consumption is only permitted for persons aged 18 and above. The use of any kind of drugs is strictly prohibited on the premises. H. Food and Beverage Members are not permitted to bring food and beverages to the Clubhouse and the terraces. Only food and beverages purchased from the Club may be consumed on the Club premises. I. Library The Club purchases newspaper subscriptions for the reading pleasure of all members. Periodicals are not to be removed from the library. Members are welcome to take books home to read at leisure and are required to return and/or donate books into the drop slot provided for proper shelving. J. Nursing Mothers shall nurse babies and/or change diapers only in the designated area in the ladies locker room. K. Pets/Animals No pets/animals shall be brought on the Club premises at any time. L. Car Parking Cars, motorcycles and cycles must be parked within the designated parking areas at the Club house and where arrangements have been made by the Club management. Please lock your cars, bicycles and scooters. Washing of any vehicles is not permitted in the car parks and any other place within the SRC compound. Chauffeurs are not allowed into the Clubhouse. M. Liability of the Club Neither the owner nor the Manager or any member of any committee or staff shall be liable in any way for personal injury (of a member or any other person), damage, loss or theft of property occurring on any of the SRC premises. All members (for themselves and on behalf of their families and guests) shall have waived any and all claims, past, present and future, against Shanghai Racquet Club & Apartments for any such damage, loss or theft by acceptance of the membership granted to them by the Shanghai Racquet Club. N. Club Property Members are required to respect Club property and the Club's environment including Club towels, robes and locker room supplies. These may not be removed from the Club premises. Members are responsible for paying for any damage and/or loss caused by family members or their guest(s) to any Club property. O. Restricted Areas No person other than designated staff is permitted in kitchens and other Staff Only marked rooms or areas of the Club. Children under 18 are not allowed on the premises of the Racquets Bar. P. Overdue Account Overdue accounts will incur a fine of RMB250 (two hundred fifty) per month. The fine will be posted to the account on the day after the stated "Due-by-Date" on the monthly statement. Accounts that are overdue for 30 (thirty) days or more may cause credit to be temporarily suspended or eventually result in termination of the Club membership. Q. Gambling Gambling of any description is not permitted on Club premises. R. Skateboarding Members and/or their guests shall not ride (or otherwise operate) a skateboard on Club premises. Skateboarding is prohibited on sidewalks, verandas, parking lots, walkways, roads, and any other paved surface on Club premises other than at the designated skateboarding area. Skateboarding in this area is at the member¡¯s own risk. S. Shuttle Bus Use of the shuttle bus is limited to members, their guests and servants. Members must present their membership card upon request. Guests may use the shuttle bus when accompanied by members. Servants may use the shuttle bus presenting a shuttle bus permit that can be purchased from the SRC security department (the staff shuttle bus may be used by presenting a staff shuttle bus permit that can be purchased from the SRC human resources department). Guests and servants can only use the bus if seats are not occupied by members. Please contact service center for timetables. T. Lost and Found The Club is not liable for any lost items. For assistance, please contact the service center. U. ATM An ATM is available in the lobby and operated by a local bank. The SRC is not responsible for any ATM operations.
Membership Eligibility
- Resident membership of the Shanghai Racquet Club is available to all residents of the Shanghai Racquet Club and Apartments (SRCA).
- Individual short term and lifetime memberships are available to all individuals aged 21 and over that are of good character and financial standing.
- SRC memberships are listed in the name of the individual and entitle the individual, his or her spouse and single children under the age of 25 (twenty five) to use the Club facilities and services in accordance with the terms and conditions stated in the membership application form.
Membership
- All members and corporate nominees (if applicable) agree to obey the rules and regulations of the Club as well as the terms and conditions of the membership application form. Terms and conditions may change periodically.
- Club membership registration fees/monthly dues are subject to change at any time with appropriate notice and at the sole discretion of Club management. All paid Club membership registration fess/monthly dues are non-refundable.
- Club Members must follow the Club¡¯s bylaws, rules and regulations and policies and are required to insure that family members and guests do the same. Club¡¯s bylaws, rules and regulations and policies may be amended, modified or eliminated at any time at the sole discretion of the Club. Failure of the member, his or her family or guests to follow all Club bylaws, rules and regulations and policies may result in suspending the use of the Club facilities, member privileges or the cancellation of the Club membership.
- Membership Transfer:
1)Lifetime membership is transferrable after six-months of purchase. Individual lifetime membership is only transferrable to individuals and corporate lifetime membership is transferrable to companies only.
2)The membership transfer is subject to approval of the Club management after the interview with the applicant.
3)A Membership Transfer Request Form should be filled out for any type of transfer for lifetime membership. For corporate lifetime membership transfer the copy of the company license with company chop should be provided.
4)All outstanding Club bills including regular monthly dues and other consumptions shall be settled before the transfer application is approved.
5)A membership transfer fee will be charged upon approval of the transfer..
E.Membership Absentee Application.
1)Members can apply for Absentee for a minimum of 6 (six) months or 12 (twelve) months by giving no less than 30 (thirty) days advance written notice to the club. Members can do so once within one year.
2)Membership Absentee Request Forms should be filled in and necessary documents should be provided upon request of the Club management including airplane ticket and company letter according to business needs.
3)All outstanding Club bills including regular monthly dues and other Club consumptions shall be settled before the absentee application is approved.
4)50% of regular monthly dues will be charged during the absentee period.
5)If the member activates the club membership account and/or uses the club facilities during the absentee period, the member shall be liable to pay for the monthly dues irrespective of the absentee period.
6)Upon the expiration of the absentee period (and if the member did not apply to extend the absentee period) the absentee period will automatically be terminated and the member shall pay the normal, monthly Club dues.
F.Temporary Membership for Residents¡¯ Overseas Guests
1)The temporary membership is valid only for residents¡¯ overseas guests staying at SRCA.
2)Resident members may request a temporary membership only twice a year and for a maximum period of 2 (two) weeks for each time.
3)Two weeks advance notice for each application is required.
4)A registration fee of RMB 1, 000 (one thousand) applies each time an application is made.
5)The temporary membership card will be issued after the registration fee is paid in full.
6)All consumption on temporary membership cards should be paid in cash or by credit card only. In case the temporary member fails to pay for his or her consumptions the resident member will be held responsible for the charges.
Membership Cards
- A picture identification membership card is issued to all family members at the age of 8 (eight) and above. Membership cards are not transferable and must be returned to the Club when the membership expires. Should a member fail to return his or her membership card a charge of RMB 200 (two hundred) applies.
- Members are required to present their membership cards at the main gate each time they visit the Club. Members who are unable to present their membership card (or any other proof of membership) may be refused entry to the premises.
- Each family member is requested to carry his or her membership card at all times when on the premises of the Club and present it upon request.
- Presentation of the membership card is required to register and to use any of the Club facilities.
- Presentation of the membership card is required for all purchases of Club services, including food and beverages, pro shop merchandise and activity fees.
- Please report any loss or damage of the membership card to the membership department immediately. A fee of RMB200 (two hundred) will be charged for each replacement card.
Guests
- Members are responsible for the behavior and actions of their guests while on Club premises AT ALL TIMES.
- Members are required to inform their guests of the Club's dress code policy prior to their arrival to the Club.
- Members are responsible to insure that their guests follow the Club rules & SRCA regulations at all times.
- Guest(s) must be accompanied by a member while using sports & recreation facilities at the Club.
- Guests of members may attend Club events not more than 4 (four) times per calendar year. Guests of members are restricted to 4 (four) visits to the Clubhouse and surrounding facilities, i.e. swimming pools, tennis courts, sports field etc. per annum. The names and contact details of all guests must be entered in the visitors book at the sports desk before they can use the club facilities.
- This restriction excludes guests of members attending events that are publicized as "open¡±/¡±invitational". The intent of this rule is to maintain the exclusivity of the Club while allowing all members to entertain guests without any disadvantage for other members.
- Members with a party of guests over 6 (six) persons should make a reservation with the events department to ensure availability and proper arrangements.
- Guests of residents and/or members who are under 18 (eighteen) years of age have to be registered at the security gate by the host when entering SRCA or in advance through the service center.
- Guests will not be permitted to enter Members Only areas or be a part of Members Only Events, designated by the Club management.
Reciprocal Club & IAC Visitors
- All reciprocal club visitors must follow the Club's bylaws.
- Upon arrival at SRCA, the reciprocal visitors have to present a letter of introduction and/or a reciprocal membership card at the Club reception.
- IAC visitors are requested to present their IAC card at the Club reception, The same IAC member may use the Club for a maximum of 12 (twelve) days in a one year period.
Dress Code
- Appropriate attire is required throughout all areas of the clubhouse and grounds. Club management reserves the right to determine the appropriateness of members' attire.
- Informal or smart casual dress code is required at all times the clubhouse.
- Clothing with offensive language and/or signage and untidy clothes are not allowed in the clubhouse. Footwear must be worn at all times in the public areas of the clubhouse.
- Clothing that is designed for tennis and fitness is appropriate for the tennis and squash courts and the fitness centre.
- Proper athletic footwear with non-marking soles is required on the tennis courts, squash courts and in the fitness centre.
- Gentlemen are required to be collared at all times in the clubhouse. Ladies should wear cover-ups over bathing suits and bikinis inside the Clubhouse.
Locker Rooms
- Members and registered guests may obtain a complementary locker key for the time they are using the sports and recreational facilities at the sports desk by presenting their membership card. Items may not be left overnight, The key must be returned to the sports desk before the end of the day. A fee of RMB 200 (two hundred) will be charged for keys that have not been returned to the sports desk prior to the published closing time of the clubhouse.
- Members desiring permanent lockers may rent one for a minimum of six months at a time at the advertised rate.
- Eating and smoking is not permitted in the locker rooms.
- Gym/racquet bags should not be left in the locker rooms overnight.
- The Club is not responsible for the loss or theft of any items stored in lockers or left anywhere in the locker room or other Club premises.
- Children under the age 12 (twelve) are not permitted to use the locker rooms except when sharing a locker with a parent.
Towels
Gym Towels
- Gym towels are available at the sports desk. Members may request towels by signing in with their membership number and signature.
- The towels must be returned and signed out for by 10pm the same day they were requested. If the towel is not signed out for it will be treated as not returned. In the case that towels have not been returned we reserve the right to contact the member who signed in for the towel and request him or her to return them within 24 (twenty four) hours
- Should the member who signed out for the towels fail to return them within 24 (twenty fours) hours after he or she has been asked to do so the member will be charged a RMB 20 (twenty) replacement fee.

Pool Towels (Summer)
- During summer, pool towels are available at the sports desk
- Monday - Thursday 09:00 - 19:00
- Friday 09:00 - 15:30
- During summer, pool towels are available at the outdoor pool hut:
- Friday 15:30 - 19:00
- Saturday 09:00 - 15:30
- Pool towels must be returned and signed in for when the leaving the pool area.
- If the pool towel is not signed in for, it will be treated as not returned and the member will be charged a RMB 150 (one hundred fifty) replacement fee.
- One member is entitled to up to 2 (two) towels at one time when using the pool and can exchange them for new towels by replacing the used ones.
Sauna Rules
- Do not drink alcohol or take any medication before and when visiting the sauna,
- Smoking is strictly prohibited in the sauna.
- Keep hydrated by drinking water before, during and after your sauna session.
- Individuals with any of the following conditions should not use the sauna:
- heart disease
- high or low blood pressure
- when under the influence of alcohol, anticoagulants, antihistamines, vasoconstrictors, vasodilators, stimulants, hypnotics, narcotics, and/or tranquilizers.
- Do not bring food or drinks to the sauna area.
- Do not bring a cell phone or other communication devices into the sauna.
- Children under 16 (sixteen) years of age are not permitted to use the sauna. Children are permitted to use the sauna only when accompanied by an adult.
Tennis & Squash Courts
- All members must present their membership card and register with the sports desk prior to using the courts .
- Court time may be reserved up to 7 (seven) days in advance either online via the SRCA website, directly at the sports desk or by telephone. Cancellations should be made at least 3 (three) hours prior to the reservation. Failure to cancel a court will result in a cancellation charge. Please consult your online facility booking welcome letter for more information.
- Names must be submitted for all members and guest players. Members may only reserve 1 (one) court for any booking.
- Court reservations will be held not longer than 10 (ten) minutes after the start of the reserved court time.
- Courts may be reserved by a member and the other players as follows:
Weekdays (Monday to Friday): 1 (one) court may be reserved for 30 (thirty) minutes, 1 (one) hour, 1 ¨ö (one and a half) hours or 2 (two) hours. Weekends (Saturday, Sunday and public Chinese holidays): 1 (one) court may be reserved for 30 (thirty) minutes or 1 (one) hour. Back to back reservations are not permitted on weekends.
- Specific court requests will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.
- Club programs, lessons, leagues, competitions, tournaments and events shall have priority over the daily routine schedule and recreational bookings.
- Rules and regulations for Club tennis and squash events are governed by the organizing committee for these events.
- 1 (one) person may occupy a court for practicing only if there is no demand by 2 (two) or more to play. However, ball machine usage on the tennis courts must be with 2 (two) or more players between 9:00am and 6:00pm on weekends.
- No food or liquids of any kind are permitted on the courts. However, users are welcome to have water and energy drinks for their consumption courtside.
- Tennis and squash court rules are on display at the sports desk and near the courts. They further advise on the rules and regulations for the use of tennis and squash courts.
- Tennis and squash courts may be closed without notice for special events.
- Only qualified employees of the SRC are permitted to conduct any tennis or squash instruction, programs, lessons, leagues, competitions, tournaments or events at the Club, unless pre-arranged for special programs and events by the SRC tennis department. Any third party instructors are not allowed on the premises.
- Users with known medical or health conditions that may, due to the use of the tennis and squash facilities, be harmful to the health of other members and/or themselves are not permitted to use the tennis and squash courts .
- Users who are uncertain of their medical conditions should check with their doctor(s) prior to using the tennis and squash facilities or commencing any training program or recreational activities.
- Proper and tidy sports attire including non-marking tennis shoes must be worn. Shirts are required at all times.
- Members are required to observe guidelines (on display in the clubhouse) on appropriate warm-up and cool- down preparations for all physical activities.
- Members are requested to keep all areas clean and tidy. No littering of any kind is permitted. Please use the garbage bins.
Badminton Court and Table Tennis Tables
- All Members must present their membership card and register with the sports desk prior to play.
- Court or table time may be reserved up to 7 (seven) days in advance either online via the SRCA website, directly at the sports desk or by telephone. Cancellations should be made at least 3 (three) hours prior to play. Failure to cancel a court will result in a cancellation charge.
- Names must be submitted for all members and guests. Members may only reserve 1 (one) court or table for any booking.
- All players must check in at the sports desk at least 10 (ten) minutes prior to their reservation . Court reservations will be held not longer than 10 (ten) minutes after the start of the reserved time.
- 1 (one) court or table may be reserved for 1 (one) hour by a member on weekdays and weekends.
- Specific court requests will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.
- Club programs, lessons, leagues, competitions, tournaments and events shall have priority over the daily schedule and recreational bookings.

- Users with known medical or health conditions that may, through the use of the badminton court and table tennis tables, be harmful to the health of other members an/or themselves are not permitted to use the badminton court and table tennis tables.
- Users who are uncertain of their medical conditions should check with their doctor(s) prior to using the badminton court and table tennis tables or commencing any training program or recreational activities.
- Proper and tidy sports attire including non-marking athletic shoes must be worn. Shirts are required at all times.
- Members are required to observe guidelines (on display in the clubhouse) on appropriate warm-up and cool- down preparations for all physical activities.
- Members are requested to keep all areas clean and tidy. No littering of any kind is permitted. Please use the garbage bins.
Swimming Pools
- Members and their guests must present their membership card and register prior to using swimming pools.
- When no lifeguard is on duty members and guests swim at their own risk.
- Parents must supervise their children under the age of twelve (12), at all times.
- Thunder and/or lightning are cause for immediate closure of the pool. Members and guests should follow instructions of club staff.
- Members and guests with injuries such as open wounds are not permitted to use any of the pools. The same is valid for any wounds that are covered with bandages.
- Jumping and diving is not permitted in any of the pools.
- No running on the pool deck.
- Everyone must shower before entering pool or jacuzzi areas.
- Towels must not be removed from pool and jacuzzi areas.
- Only unbreakable glassware and food containers are permitted in the pool and jacuzzi areas.
- Smoking is only permitted in designated areas of the outdoor swimming pool.
- Excessive noise (including loud music) and behavior that may endanger or disturb others are not permitted in the pool and jacuzzi areas.
- Flotation devices and toys that may block the vision of the lifeguards are not allowed on weekends.
- All children who are not toilet trained must wear waterproof pants over diapers or swim diapers. Please change diapers in designated areas only.
- Lap swimmers should limit their swimming to 30 minutes if other lap swimmers are waiting.
- The swimming pools may be closed without notice for special events.
- In the event that pools, indoor or outdoor, become too crowded, the club reserves the right to limit admission.
- Only qualified employees of the SRC are permitted to conduct any aquatic instruction, lessons, programs, competitions or events at the Club, unless pre-arranged for special programs and events by the SRC aquatic center. Any third party instructors are not allowed on the premises.
- Users with known medical or health conditions that may, through the use of the aquatic facilities, be harmful to the health of other members or themselves are not permitted to use the pools and jacuzzies.
- Users who are uncertain of their medical conditions should check with their doctor(s) prior to using the aquatic facilities or commencing any training program or recreational activities.
- Outdoor pool and pool bar are restricted to members on weekends. Guests or personal servants of any kind will not be permitted to enter.
- SRC non-resident members are not allowed to use the residential pools or play at the lake in the residential area.
- Members are requested to keep this area clean and tidy. No littering of any kind is permitted. Please use the garbage bins.
Fitness Center
- Members must present their membership card to register prior to using the fitness center.
- Proper sports attire including athletic shoes must be worn. Shirts are required at all times.
- Members may request instructions from the fitness staff in order to use the equipment in the fitness center appropriately and for best results.
- Food is not permitted in the fitness center. Members are welcome to take water and energy drinks into the fitness center.
- Children under the age of 16 (sixteen) are not permitted in the fitness centre except if enrolled in special programs.
- Users are responsible for their own safety when using the fitness center equipment.
- Members and guests using the fitness centre outside the operating hours of the sports desk do so at their own risk.
- Use of treadmills, cross trainers, stair steppers, stationary bikes and rowing machines should be limited to 30-minute sessions when other members are waiting.
- Paid or unpaid coaching activities or instructions, other than those offered by the Club, are not allowed on Club premises without the permission of the management. Third party instructors are not permitted on the premises.
- Only qualified employees of the SRC are permitted to conduct any fitness instruction, lessons, programs, competitions or events at the Club, unless pre-arranged for "special programs and events by the SRC Club Fitness Center. Any third party instructors are not allowed on the premises.
- Users with known medical or health conditions that may, through the use of the fitness centre facilities, be harmful to the health of themselves or other members are not permitted to use the fitness centre.
- Users who are uncertain of their medical conditions should check with their doctor(s) prior to using the fitness center or commencing any training program or recreational activities.
- Members are requested to keep this area clean and tidy. No littering of any kind is permitted. Please use the garbage bins.
Soccer Field
- The soccer field is intended to be used by members of SRCA only. Guests accompanied by members are requested to complete the guest form at the sports desk prior to usage. Please always check with the sports desk and the schedule before using the soccer field.
- Club programs always take precedence of events or individual bookings at all times.
- Details for individual bookings and for exclusive usage of this area are available at the sports desk.
- All members are entitled to FREE access to the pitch at Member Open Time marked in the schedule.
- Members using this pitch do so at their own risk.
- Children under 10 (ten) years old are requested to be accompanied by an adult.
- Only qualified employees of the SRC are permitted to conduct any sports instruction, lessons, programs, competitions or events at the Club, unless pre-arranged for special programs and events by the SRC sports and recreation department. Any third party instructors are not allowed on the premises.
- Members are requested to keep this area clean and tidy. No littering of any kind is permitted. Please use the garbage bins.
- Food is not permitted on the Soccer Field. However, Members are permitted to consume water and energy drinks on the side of soccer field. Excluding special events and functions.
- Smoking or any open fire is strictly prohibited.
- No glassware of any kind on the surface. Excluding special events and functions.
- Metal-spiked boots are not permitted on the soccer field.
- Users with known medical or health conditions that may, through the use of the Soccer Field, be harmful to the health of other members and/or themselves are not permitted to use the soccer field.
- Users who are uncertain of their medical conditions should check with their doctor(s) prior to using the soccer field or commencing any training program or recreational activities.
Children's Center
1)The center is currently designed for children who are 10 (ten) years of age below.
2)All children must obey the rules and regulations when using the center.
3)Children under the age 4 must be accompanied by an adult.
4)Parents or guardias are required to sign in and out for their children when entering the center .
5)The club reserves the right to terminate the children¡¯s center privileges of any child acting in a dangerous or unsatisfactory manner.
6)Wonderful World of Learning and SRC reserve the right to close the center for special children¡¯s programs and events without prior notice.
7)Parents are responsible for any damages caused by their child/children.
8)Wonderful World of Learning and SRC will not be responsible for accidents that occur on the premises.
9)The following behaviors are strictly prohibited:
.Removing properties (E.g. toys & books) from the center. .Throwing objects. .Rough play. .Eating and drinking in playing area. .Leaving the center without cleaning up the toys. .Parents and children are required to take off their shoes before entering the center. .Parents are required to write their contact numbers, sign-in upon arrival and sign-out upon departure.
10)Operation Hours
Monday - Thursday 12:30 - 19:30 Friday 12:30 - 20:15 Saturday and Sunday 09:00 - 20:15 The management of SRC reserve the right to vary and/or change the operation hours.
Club Room
- Club rooms are available for members of SRCA and members of reciprocal clubs.
B. SRCA members may reserve a bedroom for the use of their guest(s). C. Use of the club rooms is under the condition that:
a)All charges for accommodation and other expenses incurred during the stay at the Club must be paid in full and will be charged to the account of the member. Cash or approved credit card on the time of departure.
b)Rooms cannot be booked for a period of more than 14 (fourteen) days..
c)Registration of guests must be in accordance to laws of the People's Republic of China.
d)Visitors are not permitted in club rooms after 23:00.
e)The Shanghai Racquet Club canl not be held responsible for any loss of valuables and/or personal property.
f)Check in time is 14:00. Check out time is 12:00 (noon). Late check outs will be charged at half day of the room rate and up to 18:00pm only. Otherwise the room will be fully charged.
